Categories
We group cookies into four categories that match the consent banner. Necessary cookies are always on; the rest are off until you grant permission and can be withdrawn at any time. The list below names every cookie this site sets — first-party (set by xerx.io itself) and third-party (set by an external service we have asked to handle a specific job).
Necessary
Required for the site to function. These don't track you across sites and can't be turned off without breaking core functionality.
xerx_consent — your consent decision (which categories you've enabled). First-party. Lifetime: 180 days. Domain: .xerx.io.
xerx_locale — your language preference. Set when you visit a localised page or change the language via the footer switcher, so future visits land on the right language without prompting. First-party. Lifetime: 365 days.
Functionality
Remember small preferences across visits. Optional; if you decline, your choices won't persist between sessions.
xerx_theme — your theme choice (light, dark, or system). Set when you change theme via the footer toggle. First-party. Lifetime: 365 days. Falls back to your operating-system preference when absent.
Analytics
Help us understand how the site is used in aggregate. Off by default; activated only when you grant analytics consent. You can withdraw at any time via 'Manage cookies' in the footer.
When enabled, PostHog (PostHog, Inc., United States, DPF certified) sets cookies and uses local storage to count unique visitors, distinguish sessions, and track page views. We do not enable session recording. IP addresses are truncated server-side before storage.
ph_<project>_posthog — PostHog session and distinct-id storage. First-party. Lifetime: ~365 days. Set only after you grant analytics consent.
Advertising
Off by default. We don't currently run advertising campaigns from this site, and no advertising cookies are set. If we ever add them, the corresponding cookies (e.g. Google Ads conversion tracking, LinkedIn Insight Tag) will only be set after you grant explicit consent in the banner — this category will list the specific cookies and providers at that point.
Changing your choice
Click 'Manage cookies' in the footer at any time to re-open the consent banner. Your choice is stored in a single cookie scoped to .xerx.io and is honoured immediately — non-essential cookies set under a previous consent are revoked client-side as soon as you withdraw permission.
You can also block or delete cookies directly in your browser settings. Most browsers let you accept, refuse, or be notified before each cookie. Be aware that disabling necessary cookies (xerx_consent, xerx_locale) will prevent the site from remembering your language and consent decisions; you may see the consent banner more often than expected.
