A natural-cosmetics store that scales globally.

Taraformula needed a high-performance, multilingual, multi-currency online store to support expansion into new markets. We built a platform that handles editorial content alongside commerce, with the operations team running it day-to-day.

Background

Premium natural cosmetics, expanding from one country to many.

Taraformula isn't a generic beauty brand. The founders set out to combine natural ingredients with the discipline of modern formulation science, and the catalogue reflects that — every product is a deliberate choice. The brand was succeeding in its home market and ready to grow into the Gulf region and beyond.

What stood in the way was the platform. A premium product was being sold through a generic store — slow, off-brand checkout, no real way to publish editorial content alongside the catalogue, multi-currency support bolted on. Subscription-style replenishment wasn't supported. Adding a market meant a rebuild. And a payment provider that worked properly in the Gulf simply didn't exist on their stack.

Challenge

Premium products on a platform that didn't feel premium.

The previous store felt generic — slow, off-brand checkout, and no real way to publish editorial content alongside the catalogue. Multi-currency was bolted on. Subscription wasn't supported. Adding a market meant a rebuild. The aesthetic UI design was only partially specified, performance and SEO were below where a brand at this price-point needed them to be, and a Gulf-region payment integration with MyFatoorah needed to be built from scratch.

On top of that, the brand was an active target. The team was fielding hacking attempts almost weekly. The new store had to be hardened against that pressure on day one — not as a follow-up project after launch.

Approach

  1. Design completion before development.

We finished the partial UI ourselves, aligning every screen — catalogue, product, cart, checkout, account — with the brand's visual identity. The design system was properly named so the operations team could brief future updates without reverse-engineering decisions.

  2. Multi-language, multi-currency from the foundation up.

Currency, language, and region as first-class concerns. Adding a new market is a config change, not a fork. The catalogue, the editorial layer, and the checkout all switch together — no marooned English strings on a translated page.

  3. Custom MyFatoorah integration for the Gulf.

Gulf customers needed a payment experience tailored to local methods. We worked directly with MyFatoorah to design and integrate a custom payment solution — not a hosted-checkout iframe but a native payment flow that matched the rest of the store.

  4. Hardened from day one.

WAF rules, rate limiting at the edge, a tight CSP, and a security review of every authenticated route before launch. The site has held against repeated attempts since.

Highlights

  • Three markets launched

EU, UK, and Gulf — each with its own language, currency, and payment rails — running off a single shared catalogue.

  • Custom MyFatoorah payments

Built directly with the MyFatoorah team for native Gulf-region checkout. No hosted iframe — a payment flow that reads as part of the store.

  • Held against repeated attacks

Hardened against the steady stream of attempts the previous platform was fielding. The security posture survived the migration intact.

  • Orders every 15 minutes at peak

Sustained order rate during the post-launch growth window, on a platform whose performance and stability we maintained with minimal intervention.
